Crisis? What crisis? – Much had been feared before Agritechnica 2009: Visitors would be missing, mood would be poor, farmers would be unlikely to invest… Nothing occurred except for the fact that visitors from Eastern Europe would be less present: the atmosphere was best, with 350.000 visitors there was even an increase of 3 per cent compared to the last show – including 77.000 international visitors. Having 2300 exhibitors from 46 countries, Agritechnica 2009 was the biggest one ever and withstood the crisis. In addition, a visitor survey revealed that 70 per cent of farmers and contractors are likely to invest within the next two years. eilbote visited exhibitors and questioned them about their impressions of the fair and expectations for the future. // Read more in eilbote No. 47/2009

Managing Director Andreas Frisch leaves the enterprise at his own wish after 11 years and a transition period of 6 months on March 31st, 2010. Until then he will continue to be in charge of the business areas Finance and Production, while Andreas Vorig will give priority to Sales, Development as well as IT and Organization.

Dr. Matthias Schreiber, head of Fendt´s product marketing, characterizes the new 800 production series being introduced at Agritechnica as „the entry-level model in the large tractor category“. It is positioned in the growing segment from 200 to 280 hp.

Fendt also considers the newly introduced 200 Vario a compact standard tractor, offering the technology and convenience of large tractors in this segment. The german agricultural machinery industry may be confident about next year. „After distinct breaksin nearly all segments we are expecting a stabilization at low level“, as Dr. Bernd Scherer, Managing Director of VDMA Landtechnik points out during a pre-press conference to Agritechnica 2009. Not only manufacturers of tractors and attachments offer interesting jobs for mechanical engineers and agricultural technicians. Also the supplying industry has interesting jobs to offer. Young employees of GKN Walterscheid presented some at a Young Talents Meeting VDI-MEG in Lohmar.

Anyone who is studying mechanical engineering or agricultural engineering is at some point dreaming of an exciting job in the development department of a large tractor or harvester manufacturer. But also large-sized advertisements of manufacturers of harvesting or tillage machinery attract job starters.
